Piers Worth PhD is a ‘Reader’ (Associate Professor equivalent) at Bucks New University in the United Kingdom. He is a Chartered Psychologist and accredited psychotherapist, in addition to having extensive organisational consulting experience. Piers co-leads the University’s MSc Applied Positive Psychology programme which is now in its fifth year.
His research and writing focus at the present time is on subjects and applications that may broaden the use of positive psychology in different disciplines and locations, such as the training of medical staff specialists to utilise positive psychology in what might be challenging and demanding situations.
Piers’ teaching is exploring how focusing on and supporting the goals and journeys of individual post graduate students, and creating study projects around these, creates transformative education and growth that in turn amplify many of the experiences proposed by positive psychology.
Prior to this work focus Piers:
- Managed the Department of Psychology at Bucks New University between 2010 and 2015.
- Has a track record of Human Resources Management and Organisation Development consulting projects in blue-chip companies in 17 countries from North America, Europe and Asia. Over a period of 30 years these projects have been characterised by supporting and achieving creative, courageous and often unprecedented change within these organisations. .
Coming from a background of work in service industries, Piers’ work values and priority are the giving of service, and a willingness to undertake challenging and ground-breaking projects and exploration.
